Frequently asked questions!!!
How did you come up with your spa name?
~ When Jennifer was in Esthetic school she had to do a entrepreneurship project that entailed her to create her own spa. She named the spa Blisstini (Bliss-tin-knee), by combining Bliss and Destiny together :) People often call it "Bliss-teen-e"...like martini, and that's ok too! Since it was always a dream to make the spa into a reality, she thought it was fitting to keep the name!
What are your hours of operation?
~ As follows and by appointment only:
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Tuesday/Thursday 9:00am-8:00pm
Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm
Due to scheduling we may not be open all Monday's and Saturdays.
How much notice do I need to book or cancel an appointment?
~ When you contact we will try our best to accommodate your preferred time request. It helps if you can prebook or call as soon in advance as you can to ensure you’re getting the time you would like!
~ It is appreciated if at least 24 hours cancellation notice is given. Failure to do so, or no showing, will result in a 50% service(s) fee charge at your next appointment.
It is my first visit at Blisstini, anything I should know?
~ Please park in the REAR driveway (Driveway located of Viscount run), and come right in through the back entrance. You will see a sign at the end of the driveway. PLEASE DO NOT PARK AT THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE IN THE TOP DRIVEWAY.
Please arrive a min of 5-15 mins prior to any appointments. A health profile will be provided for you to fill out to ensure treatments received are safe to do so. The only thing you need to know is that you are in great hands!
What forms of payment do you take, and what about taxes?
~ Debit, Visa, Mastercard, and cash. 15% HST is added on top of any service provided(unless stated), and retail product purchased.
How do I purchase a gift certificate?
~Gift certificates can be purchased in dollar denominations only. You can call to set up a time for you to come in to purchase, or simply purchase one during your scheduled appointment time. You may also call with a credit card number, and arrange a pickup time or have a spa credit left here for the lucky recipient! Gift certificates carry no expiration date.
I’d like to come with a friend; can you accommodate more than 1 person?
~YES! However, the treatment rooms are separate, so you must enjoy treatments apart, but may unwind afterwards together in the waiting area. We can accommodate up to 3 guests at once.
How long do the services take?
~Most services have allotted times next to them, and these are just approximate times. However, I am considerate of the next client’s appointment, so I will try my best to finish within those time frames. Waxing times will vary from each individual.
How is waxing performed? And does it hurt?
~The skin is first cleansed and then nourishing jasmine oil is applied to allow the skin to become more supple prior to the warm wax application. Baby powder is also applied to act as a barrier between the skin and wax. A soft wax is applied to the area, in the direction of growth and is then followed by a cotton strip, which is then pulled off in the opposite direction of growth. People often refer it to having a Band-Aid pulled off. Everyone’s discomfort level will differ; topical anesthetic creams are available over the counter. It is also wise not to wax days prior or during your menstrual cycle as you are more sensitive. Taking a ibuprofen 30 minutes prior can cut down on inflammation and take the edge off waxing.
How long do I have to wait for my hair to grow before I can get it waxed?
~ It is recommended to have the hair at least 4 week’s worth of growth. ¼-1/2 of an inch is ideal, this is about the length of an eyelash. Not all hair is in the same stage of growth so by waiting the recommended 4 weeks, you will get better results. As you continue to wax, hair will become less abundant and finer, and your waxing services can be further spread apart.
Ok, I am curious about Brazilian waxing…what exactly is entailed?!!!!
~ The client will be asked to disrobe (bottoms and underwear), and lie on top of examination paper. Preparation of the skin is done the same way as other types of waxing. One leg is bent at the knee, and a hard wax is applied. The wax is allowed to harden briefly, then one edge of the wax strip is pulled up and used as a 'tab' to pull off the rest of the wax, usually in the direction opposite of hair growth.
If finer hairs have not been encapsulated within the hard wax, soft wax may be used to remove the excess fine hair. If the client is comfortable, both legs may be bent (in a frog position). Systematically hair is removed from the genitals, and anus area. Often a “landing stripe” or “triangle” are left behind, or all hair may be taken if requested. Once it comes time to the “back”, the client is asked to turn over and lay flat on their stomach.
The benefits are similar to those of other types of waxing, such as lack of razor burn and soft hair regrowth. Brazilian waxing is one of the most popular services offered, so we will try our best to make you comfortable!
How are your implements (tools) cleaned?
~ great care in ensuring tools are always clean. After every client, implements are scrubbed and soaked for 20 minutes using Accel C20, which is a hospital grade disinfectant. There are separate implements for pedicure, manicure and multiple waxing implements. Disposable buffers are discarded after each service.
